When I pulled up to the Arnold Arboretum for the Z Family’s photography session, it was hard to find a parking spot. Every time I have been to the Arboretum it’s been packed with people biking, walking, and enjoying the park. It’s such a beautiful spot, I can’t blame them! On a sunny afternoon in the Fall, everyone wants to take advantage before the Winter chill sets in.
The Z Family is pretty darn adorable. Their son is the same age as my younger son and had the cutest smile on the planet. When I first arrived, he was pretty nervous and unsure about being photographed. At 10 months old, this is pretty common. Stranger danger is at an all-time high and I am a stranger with a big black camera which most kids haven’t seen before. We started our session with him safe in Mama’s arms which is the perfect option for kids who take a little while to warm up. Parents sometimes feel nervous when their child doesn’t want to be put down, but fear not- we can still get GREAT pictures!
The Arboretum provides many opportunities for photographs with varied backdrops within a 10 minute walk on their grounds. The main paths are tree-lined and look similar to any Massachusetts forest. Scattered throughout the park are also more manicured gardens with beautiful ivy and other plants. After he warmed up and we did a little walking, baby boy was loving exploring all the different flora. Even though he was very shy, I did get some great smiles by the end! Here are my favorites from this family session:

"To say that I love each one would be cliche and a total understatement, but seriously... She nailed it. Being a photographer myself, I am very picky and searched dozens of photographers before coming back to lyndsay and booking her and I am so glad I did. I can't even remember the last time I hired a photographer and was this in love with the images and unable to pick just a few favorites. Thank you, lyndsay, for making the photo session easy (with 3 kids), fun and providing this mama memories for a lifetime.”
"Our images are so special and really captured our joy and the sweet personality of our little girl. Lyndsay did a great job going beyond the typical posed shots and making our photos feel authentic. We will treasure them forever."
