Sometimes I get asked what it is like to be a boy Mama. I don’t have an easy answer. It’s complete madness, constant activity, lots of tears, and just as many snuggles. Do I think that’s any different than a girl Mama? Probably not, but it’s all I know! What I can tell you is that I have been a professional photographer specializing in young children for four years now and sessions with young boys, particularly brothers, are different. There is more consistently a level of activity involved that is unparalleled. My Fitbit after a boy session doesn’t lie!

Late Summer, we had some work done on our backyard and kitchen by the amazing R.Coppellotti Wordworks. When I booked his family session, he gave me a warning about his “crazy” boys. No warning needed as I have two equally crazy sons of basically identical ages at home! We met at Sudbury’s Grist Mill at sunset for their photography session. Mama dressed her boys in adorable matching outfits, perfect for running and playing. We began our session with some classic parent-throwing-kid in the air to capture the brothers’ attention and progressed to chasing, jumping, racing, swinging, and climbing on rocks. If you are a boy mama, or even a mama with one little boy, take a look through this session. My hope is that you will smile and maybe even laugh knowingly as you scroll. We may not have captured any perfect seated sibling photos, but I think we did even better. All those parents who think their kids won’t behave for a session, consider a lifestyle photographer! Document what your kids are really like at this stage in their lives. I promise you won’t regret it for a minute!
