One of my favorite things about photographing return families year after year is the familiarity. Not only do the kids recognize and warm up to me right away, I already know exactly what their parents are looking for! This Wellesley Family is no exception. The first year I photographed them, Mom and I chatted about how she loves seeing the “outtakes”. If the kids are crying or being grumpy, she wants it documented! The funny photos are the ones she loves for Christmas cards and laughs looking back at.
This year, we met at their Wellesley home to begin our family photo session. We got extremely lucky with beautiful golden light and warm weather, which was not the norm this Fall! As we began the session, we reminisced about our first session four years prior. Their youngest daughter was a little over one and the other kids very young so there was quite a lot of funny whining and crying to capture. We wondered if there would be any tears this year with 5, 8, and 11 year olds?
After capturing some more traditional portraits on their front porch with their gorgeous colorful blooms, we walked down to Boulder Brook Reservation which provided a gorgeous natural backdrop. We may not have experienced the tantrums of years past, but we did get some great big kid shenanigans like epic dance moves and some good old sibling rivalry!
