In Massachusetts, everyone thinks of getting their family photos done in Spring, Summer, and especially Autumn. Not many people consider getting family portraits done in the Winter. I am here to tell you that family photos in the snow are magical. The difficult part about scheduling photos for the Winter is that if there is not snow, it can be quite ugly and brown. January and February give you a much better chance of the Winter wonderland look than December or March. Last year, I got lucky here, here, and then here with a gorgeous blanket of white on the ground. This year I hit the jackpot of snow, though.
The B Family was in town for a celebratory weekend after their civil ceremony last month. As I watched the weather forecast all week, the impending rain turned to chance of snow. Then the chance of snow turned to a 3-5″ small snowstorm set to be right during our morning family session! My clients were slightly dubious but I was psyched. I love shooting while the snow is falling…the snow globe effect is so beautiful and really jazzes up that drab March backdrop.
We met just after sunrise (the best time for non-crowded city streets) at the Marriott Long Wharf. We started on the city streets as we walked towards the iconic Christopher Columbus Park and the Harborwalk. Snow fell all around us giving a quiet, sleepy feel to Downtown Boston. Their 15 month old daughter looked around with wonder at the huge flakes. We may not have gotten a golden sunrise, but I think we got something even more special! Thank you B Family for trusting me and braving the snow on this chilly morning!!

"To say that I love each one would be cliche and a total understatement, but seriously... She nailed it. Being a photographer myself, I am very picky and searched dozens of photographers before coming back to lyndsay and booking her and I am so glad I did. I can't even remember the last time I hired a photographer and was this in love with the images and unable to pick just a few favorites. Thank you, lyndsay, for making the photo session easy (with 3 kids), fun and providing this mama memories for a lifetime.”
"Our images are so special and really captured our joy and the sweet personality of our little girl. Lyndsay did a great job going beyond the typical posed shots and making our photos feel authentic. We will treasure them forever."
