A City Walking Family Photography Session in Boston
Don’t get me wrong, I love a serene open field and a good city arboretum family session. Today I want to chat about why my city clients should consider a city walking tour for their family session.
What is a city walking photography session?
To me, a walking photography session is one where we begin at your Boston home (or a specific starting point) and move throughout a route with no specific destination. A walking tour allows us to meander along and take advantage of many different backdrops. If one area is too crowded or has bad light, we move on to the next. This type of session is particularly great for parents of active kids as it continually provides new stimulation!
I. It’s Personal!
Do you feel like your city apartment or condo is too small for an entire session? This is the session for you! We can begin in your Boston home (because what is more personal than a front stoop picture?) and then head out walking from there. Best of both worlds!
II. Toddlers Love It!
Are you worried about your 5 and under kiddo participating happily in your family photos? Fear not. This is the best type of session for potentially cranky right-at-bedtime kids. Fresh air, an adventure, plenty to look at. We can follow their lead and leave or stay longer at each spot as needed.
III. City Walking Sessions Provide Variety
Are you the type of client who has a hard time committing to a photo location each year? Not sure if you want forest, field, urban or water? The nice thing about a walking session is that you can get a little of many of these items. Many walking routes will include a park for foliage or flowers, an urban feel, and even the Boston coast!
IV. No Post-Bedtime Car Ride Home
If you’re lucky enough to live in the city, we will create a route that ends at your doorstep. Parents of young kids know that there is nothing better than ending a post-bedtime adventure WITHOUT the inevitable bedtime car nap.
V. Homebody Kids Feel Comfortable
Do you have a child who sometimes feels overwhelmed when they step outside their comfort zone? Let’s go on your favorite walking tour of your ‘hood. The one they know well that leads to their favorite park or ice cream shop. Nothing warms up an easily overwhelmed kid like being in a familiar spot.
