For the last few years, I have seen a few photographers do superlative posts and I always found them so clever! This year I am jumping on that bandwagon and I am excited to present the first annual LHP 2020 Client Superlative awards.
Please note that if you didn’t ‘win’ in a superlative category this year, it’s not because I didn’t love your session. It’s most likely because I am just not creative enough to come up with something clever!
My best full-sized wedding of the year was my sister’s that I shot in January before the pandemic happened! I am being a little silly considering it was my ONLY full-sized wedding of the year but I am pretty certain she might win even if I had more due to a small family bias.
Most dangerous was an easy decision as I think back to my family-session-meets-storm-chaser-episode this Fall with Becca Carnahan and family. The clouds in the photo below are not enhanced. Halfway through our session the sky was ANGRY and it made for some pretty epic (and 2020-esque) family photos!
These two braved a wind chill of TWENTY DEGREES for their maternity session. Despite the absolutely frigid temperatures, they had epically gorgeous golden hour light and I think we’d both agree it was totally worth it!
The largest baby client superlative award goes to this gorgeous family that I’ve been photographing for four years! They welcomed a son this year who topped the charts at over 11lbs!
This was a close one but this Summer family session takes the cake for the highest tossed kid! Good thing I backed wayyyyy up or he would’ve gone right out of the frame!
This award is a tie between two of my families. Both of which ended with their children stripped down and actually swimming. Sounds like the perfect end to a Summer session to me!
The hairiest baby award, hands-down, goes to this little lady who had the cutest natural faux-hawk I have ever seen!
I think their mom will laugh when she sees this but these two might win this every year for me! They are little balls of energy and always take me on a whirlwind tour of Charlestown during their session! No need for hopping on my peloton before their session ;).
The most playful parents award goes to these two. I have NEVER (and I mean literally never) laughed so much during a session. These two kept me endlessly entertained during their documentary family session and all I can say is that their little boy is one lucky little dude!
The award for the most dogs at a session goes to these two. In fact, they probably win this award for my entire career as a photographer! I don’t think I’ve ever had three dogs at a session before this one. It was chaos, but in the cutest way possible. The jury’s still out on whether three dogs or three kids are harder to photograph!
What could be more exciting than a baby announcement?! I had two this year and they were SO FUN to incorporate into these family beach sessions this Summer!
The Spring bloom season is the most under-appreciated timeframe by New England families. I think I like Spring blooms BETTER than Fall foliage….whattttttt. This client session hit the blooms at the Arnold Arboretum at their peak and it was amazing!
If I award a client superlative for best Spring blooms, it’s only fair that I award one for best Fall foliage. Autumn kept us on our toes this year and saved its best for the very end of October. These sessions hit the peak week at their chosen locations and the foliage was some of the most vibrant I have ever seen before!
It’s only natural that this family, the owners of Viking Sports, won this client superlative. My favorite family athletic trick of the year was the high-flying high-five to siblings on top of mom and dad’s shoulders (pictured below).
This pair won the award for the best toddler-dad matching flowing quarantine locks. I know this family well and it was funny to see them sporting their very long, ‘that 70s show’ inspired locks.
This is a hard one to give out because I had a LOT of very smiley kids this year! But there was one child who literally smiled the biggest, gummiest smiles THE ENTIRE SESSION despite the 40 degree November weather. Sooo…client superlative award for the most smiley goes to this lady!
Conversely, hands-down the best toddler scowl goes to this lady. I was overjoyed to see that this image also made it to their 2020 holiday card. THE BEST!
The next client superlative goes to the baby with the least amount of hair. This 6 month old had the CUTEST bald head I have ever seen. My oldest was bald like this until well after a year and now has the thickest hair of all my children. So freaking cute!
The West Coast wildfires blew their smoke across for a week in September and this particular session was so fascinating. The sky was smoke-filled and hazy which made the sun an interesting muted pink and orange orb that you could stare straight at. This family will always remember this event in history when they look back at their 2020 family images!
While I have lots and lots of affectionate big siblings at newborn sessions, this client superlative was a clear winner. This big sister was the most affectionate, most gentle, most enthusiastic sibling I have ever experienced before! It was seriously the sweetest thing.
Last but not least comes the most epic landscape shot award. If the location (and kiddos/dogs) allow, I like to attempt a wider angle landscape shot in my galleries. Choosing my favorite though, is like choosing my favorite child so you’re going to have to see a handful of my favorites!
"To say that I love each one would be cliche and a total understatement, but seriously... She nailed it. Being a photographer myself, I am very picky and searched dozens of photographers before coming back to lyndsay and booking her and I am so glad I did. I can't even remember the last time I hired a photographer and was this in love with the images and unable to pick just a few favorites. Thank you, lyndsay, for making the photo session easy (with 3 kids), fun and providing this mama memories for a lifetime.”
"Our images are so special and really captured our joy and the sweet personality of our little girl. Lyndsay did a great job going beyond the typical posed shots and making our photos feel authentic. We will treasure them forever."
- amanda, northborough
"We have done multiple sessions (family and newborn) and we’re so happy with the results. Lyndsay makes you feel comfortable and is able to truly capture the moment. We will have her prints hung in our house for years to come."
- beth - framingham
"We've done it all - newborn, maternity, cake smash, family photos - and every single time we are amazed by the quality of the end product. Lyndsay captures beautiful moments that we will treasure forever!"
