It’s hard for me to believe that we approaching the opening of my Autumn calendar. Spring is in full swing which means we are just about one month away from Fall bookings! For those who are new to parenthood and might not be aware, the months of September through November are absolute insanity for family photographers. We get, on average, TEN TIMES the amount of inquiries from families than we can actually handle booking. This means that getting a spot with your favorite Boston family photographer can feel a little like winning the lottery.

So how does one snag one of these elusive Autumn Family Sessions with their favorite Boston Photographer?

• Make sure you join their mailing list to be kept “in the know”.
• Make sure you follow their account on IG and FB just in case you miss something in your inbox!
• Be flexible with location, month, and day of the week. There are only *maybe* 3 weekends of prime foliage in the entire Fall!
• Trust your photographer that they are choosing the best spots and dates for everyone.

So let’s talk about what I want my prospective Autumn families to know!

LOCATIONS FOR AUTUMN 2023 FAMILY SESSIONS:

• My goal for September through November is always to accommodate as many happy families as I can, without stretching myself too thin. I want to be able to give every family that books with me the best version of me.
• This means that, just like last year, I will be offering a mix of petite and full sessions at locations that **I will select in advance based on my knowledge of this area**.
• If you have very specific needs, aren’t very flexible with location, and want a more custom experience in selecting your location, the Fall season is not for you! I am more than happy to refer you out to another photographer who may be able to accommodate a custom designed experience during this time of year.

WEATHER AND YOUR FAMILY’S FLEXIBILITY

• If you are booking a session with me from September – November, please understand that my calendar is FULLY booked. What this means is that I have the maximum amount of sessions that I allow myself to take during these 12 weeks. Within each month, I leave a rain date open for every session, but this still requires EVERY family to have flexibility in their schedule.
• I cannot control the weather and have no idea if it will rain on ONE day in October or on FOURTEEN. This means that IF IT IS NOT RAINING, we will be going forward with your session. Fog, overcast skies, a blustery day, and chilly weather are not reasons that I can offer reschedules in the Fall. If you are dead-set on a warm and sunny evening, please do not wait until September-November for your family session!

SESSION TIMING

• Session timing is based around sunset. If this falls around your child’s nap and/or bedtime and you cannot be flexible with their sleep schedule, do not book the date/time.
• IF THERE IS AN OVERCAST DAY, your session timing will most likely change up to 60 minutes earlier than originally scheduled time. If the time you’re thinking about booking won’t work if it moves up an hour due to work, school, or sports games, do not book the date/time.

WHEN DO AUTUMN BOOKINGS OPEN?

• I plan to open Autumn 2023 on May 20th, 2023 at 8am.
• My booking calendar will be released to my mailing list first. Make sure you’re signed up!
• Bookings are always first come, first served. Fall sells out extremely quickly, not quite as quickly as a Taylor Swift concert, but maybe a close second ;).
