I am very excited to announce the launch of my new First Year Photography Package for Boston newborns. Did you know that the first year is the most growth your child will ever go through? You watch a tiny helpless bundle in your arms transform to a walking, talking, food eating toddler in twelve short months. It may feel like you’ll never forget any of these all-encompassing phases but as time goes on…you will. Investing in a first year photography package means that you’ll have picture proof of their tiny wrinkly hands and feet as a newborn. Forever documented will be that chubby, super smiley six-month- old baby that claps and drools with abandon. You’ll celebrate the end of their first amazing year with photos of wobbly steps and (maybe) two tiny pearly teeth.

What does a First Year Photography Package include?

The Maternity Photo Session

We will start your package with a petite (30 minute) maternity session to take place somewhere around 32 – 36w gestation. This ensures that you have a nice round belly without yet feeling too uncomfortable and swollen. Don’t stress whatsoever about what season this happens to fall in. We are *so lucky* to live in a state with four distinctly beautiful seasons. As a mother of three Winter babies, I so distinctly tie my memories of pregnancies and births into the season they were born in.

Not convinced about the beauty of Winter? Luckily, there are other options like an in-home maternity session!

Not every mother is excited about doing a maternity session. While some feel glowy and beautiful in pregnancy, many do not. However, I can assure you that I will do everything in my power to pose you in a gorgeous and flattering way and you won’t be sorry that you documented the beginning of this journey!

The In-Home (or Outdoor) Newborn Session

Two of the sessions included in the package are full sessions because of the milestone moments. One is your newborn session which typically lasts between 60-90 minutes. Traditionally, this happens in the comfort of your home. What could be better than avoiding any commute and being close to anything you might need? Occasionally clients request an outdoor sunset newborn session, which is an option between May and September when the temperatures are mild enough for your newborn to be comfortable. These newborn sessions happen between 2 weeks and 8 weeks, on average. Our goal is always to celebrate this new life by capturing all their tiny newborn features and the love you share as a family in a natural way.

Six Months Later… (or 7, or 8)

The growth between 2 weeks and 6-9 months is truly mind-blowing. Your helpless infant goes from a tiny screaming (or sleeping) bundle to a chubby, laughing, sitting REAL human. 6-9 months of age is probably my all-time favorite to photograph because they are so full of joy and laughter (and thigh rolls). This session can take place outdoors at sunset or in your home, depending on season and family wants. Traditionally called a “sitter” session, these take place between 6-9 months of age. If you want your baby to be stably sitting, closer to 8-9 months is a good spot. But if 8-9 months falls in January and February and you’re set on an outside session we will do 6 months!

The Conclusion to the First Year Photography Package: Happy Birthday!

The first year of parenting is HARD (and beautiful and magical). Raising a newborn to toddler is not for the faint of heart, whether it’s your first or third time doing it. The conclusion of the year deserves a celebratory family photoshoot. We will commemorate the newly minted toddler with photos of gummy smiles with teeth! Wobbly steps! Laughter! We will document their growing sibling bond and budding personality. Some parents choose to conclude the first birthday session with a casual cake smash, but it’s not a necessity.

The Investment

Investing in a First Year Photography Package can feel daunting when you look at the total. However, bundling four sessions together saves hundreds of dollars for sessions that you’ll likely want to invest in when the time comes anyways. Most photographers offer payment plans to break the cost into smaller chunks throughout the year as well.
