Congratulations, you’re pregnant! You know you want to hire a professional to document this amazing life change, but who? And what style? There is a variety of styles of maternity photos in Boston available to new moms. There is a more formal and polished studio look, a fancy ballgown outdoor look…and then there is “lifestyle” maternity photos. Lifestyle is a term that photographers use synonymously with “casual”, “relaxed”, and “natural”. Lifestyle maternity photographers strive for their galleries to look like real life, with true emotions, but elevated.

Where can you take lifestyle maternity photos in Boston?

The lifestyle genre of maternity photos can happen anywhere! Outdoors, a studio, or in the comfort of your own home. If you go with outdoors, you get the benefit of highlighting whatever season you’re pregnant during. With four distinct seasons in Massachusetts, this can be a beautiful and timely reminder of this pregnancy journey.

If you’re not sold on the outdoors, your house is a wonderful option. Benefits include zero commuting time, no weather concerns, no need to fit swollen pregnancy feet into shoes, and the ability to change outfits (or get a snack!) easily.

What should we expect from a lifestyle maternity gallery of images?

A lifestyle gallery is going to be a lot bigger than a more traditional, styled maternity session. You’ll find the traditional maternity portraits of the expectant mother, but also a lot more. There will be interactions between mother and older siblings, action shots of running and laughing. Snuggling images with partner and siblings. A gallery will also include mother and partner alone, partner and big siblings, and big sibling(s) solo. Included will also be detail images, landscape/wide angle focused images, and traditional portraits.
