Autumn in Massachusetts seems to draw all the families out to be photographed- dressed in plaid, jeans and cable knit sweaters. I can’t blame them, it’s my favorite time of the year! The leaves are changing, the air is crisp, and the coveted golden hour is well before bedtime. One of my favorite spots to photograph families in Autumn is Farm Pond Park. It’s small enough to not overwhelm small children, it has beautiful tall oak trees to filter the light, and a pretty pond view to boot.

Before the P Family’s session, we exchanged emails about various details, one of which was clothing related. I always advise my clients to ‘coordinate but not match’. Mama was so funny in her response: “I know you said not to match, but if I could match my daughter every day of my life, I would”. I laughed and laughed when I read that response. My main goal is to photograph my families in a way that shows their true selves. If your true self is to match your child- by all means GO FOR IT! And boy am I glad they did! Does it get any cuter than Hanna Andersson blue plaid for the whole family? Even I can get on board for matching family outfits from HA. If only I could convince my husband…
