Massachusetts Fall Photoshoot | Boston Family Photographer
Fall in Massachusetts can be a finicky time of year. There is no way to pinpoint when the best and brightest foliage will happen. Families ask every year when the “best” date is and it’s impossible to know! This Fall was no exception. With an unusually warm October, the leaves were *just* starting to change mid-October for this family’s photoshoot.
You may remember the R Family from their in-home lifestyle newborn session this Spring. It was so exciting to see baby G as a 6 month old with loads of personality and a lot more hair! I’ve mentioned a couple times in the past that my preferred timeframe to photograph families outdoors is at golden hour. However, I do make exceptions for my clients. Even though this Mama loved the idea of sunset pictures, she just felt her boys would do better in the morning. Sometimes that happens and I am happy to accommodate an early morning session. The Grist Mill in Sudbury is an ideal spot for a Fall morning shoot because it has loads of tall trees and open shade to block the harsher sun rays.
As I scrolled through this family’s photographs and selected some for this post, I smiled from ear to ear. I feel their session demonstrates exactly what I strive for in all of my family sessions. There was playing, running, smiling and laughing, leaf throwing, and a whole lot of little boy snuggling. We got really lucky with the weather as well! It was warm, but not too warm and the overcast skies helped to naturally filter that morning light. This was also the first weekend that truly started to look like Fall in Massachusetts with the vine leaves and trees starting to show color.
