At Home Photography Session | Boston Documentary Photographer
Today I am excited to share with you something different than my norm, a family documentary session! Most of my professional photography falls into the lifestyle category. Documentary and lifestyle are terms in the photography world that basically identify what style of photography is taking place. Lifestyle photography curates and prompts authentic moments. This means that I help you choose the ideal location, the ideal lighting/timing to be at that location, and your ideal outfit. We then work within those ideal conditions to prompt authentic smiles and interactions. Documentary is different. I am a fly on the wall at your home (or other location) capturing your family life. You wear normal clothes, you do normal things. The lighting is not always ideal but I help you to see beauty in the everyday.
Initially, I was planning a traditional outdoor family lifestyle session with the V Family. When weather deterred our plans and we began chatting about an at home session, Mama got really excited. She told me that being at home made them feel SO much more comfortable and excited! Friends, if an at home documentary style session is where your heart lies, let’s chat about how to make that happen!! My goal as your family photographer is to tell YOUR unique family story whether that is dressing your kiddos in adorable tutus and chilling with me in a pretty field at sunset OR hanging out in your sweatpants in your own space. Before my session with the V Family, Mama asked me “should we tone down our crazy”? And I said, HECK NO! Please don’t tone down your crazy. Play with your kids, be goofy, laugh at yourselves, show me what makes your family unique. You’ll like the end result better, I promise!
