I grew up in a small farm town in Connecticut and still have many contacts there despite being a Massachusetts resident for nearly a decade. With family still in The Nutmeg State, I always enjoy going back “home” to photograph a Connecticut wedding. Having gone to high school with the bride’s sister, I was excited to see her and her family after all these years!

When I met Colleen, Roland, and their one-year-old daughter for their planning meeting, I could tell that Colleen was a very organized and detail oriented bride. Little did I know how much thought and care she had put into planning every aspect of their intimate family-centered ceremony and reception. When my second shooter and I arrived to Foxwoods’ Pequot Tower  we were in awe of the sheer size of the casino and all its accompaniments. Colleen and her bridesmaids were putting the finishing touches on hair and makeup on one floor while Roland and his groomsmen laughed and shared beers a few floors down. It was very important to Colleen and Roland that they were present with their family and friends for as much of their special day as possible, so we did a first look in the bridal suite before heading over to the gorgeous Lake of Isles to knock out their list of formals before their ceremony.

Colleen and Roland’s ceremony was truly beautiful. Roland’s grandmother was the officiant and various family members contributed by reading poems, readings, and performing a hand fasting ceremony. There was laughter as their daughter toddled around, climbing in and out of the fireplace and running across Colleen’s gown, and tears of happiness as Colleen and Roland recited their vows to one another.

A quick pop out to the lake after the ceremony for some gorgeous golden hour portraits of the newlyweds and a celebratory cigar for the groomsmen and Colleen and Roland were back in the action enjoying the delicious food and dancing the night away.
