Traditionally in New England, family sessions take place outdoors in the Spring, Summer, or Autumn. People do not typically consider indoor photography in their own home. While I can absolutely appreciate the desire for a beautiful natural backdrop, there is something special about one’s home. Your child spends most of their time at your home. They eat, sleep, learn to walk, and practice their first words at home. Home is their safe space where they feel most comfortable. Chances are, it’s probably where you feel most comfortable too!
When the {P} family reached out to me about an indoor February family session, I was thrilled. While I spend a lot of time in families’ homes for their indoor newborn sessions, I hardly ever have the opportunity to photograph an indoor family session with a seven month old! Mama told me a little bit about their home…antique, all white paint, neutral colors, sparsely decorated due to just moving. Basically every photographer’s indoor dream come true, ha!
When I arrived to their home, I was greeted by a friendly dog, a smiley baby girl, and the most welcoming parents. We began our session in baby girl’s nursery which was swan-themed like the Boston Public Garden‘s swan boats. So adorable! The master bedroom and the family room made equally lovely backdrops and we ended our session outdoors in their backyard for a little snowy fun. I always try to incorporate a photograph at the front steps/stoop for my in-home sessions. There is just something special about each individual home’s front door!

"To say that I love each one would be cliche and a total understatement, but seriously... She nailed it. Being a photographer myself, I am very picky and searched dozens of photographers before coming back to lyndsay and booking her and I am so glad I did. I can't even remember the last time I hired a photographer and was this in love with the images and unable to pick just a few favorites. Thank you, lyndsay, for making the photo session easy (with 3 kids), fun and providing this mama memories for a lifetime.”
"Our images are so special and really captured our joy and the sweet personality of our little girl. Lyndsay did a great job going beyond the typical posed shots and making our photos feel authentic. We will treasure them forever."
