Every photographer talks about the golden hour just before sunset when the light is beautiful, both soft and low in the sky. But did you know that there is a golden hour at sunrise too? Summer is tough for families with little kids. The days are SO long and the sun gets harsh early and stays harsh late. The ideal timeframe for Summer photographs in the evening is 7:30pm which is around most toddler and baby bedtimes! Some families with early risers prefer the morning golden hour instead. If you are one of the lucky ones with late sleeping kiddos, you might be horrified at the idea of a 6:30am family session, but if your kids are up at 5am daily, why not??
This family session was a special one for me. Their oldest son was in my oldest son’s preschool class this past year and they became instant friends. Needless to say, I was completely honored when his family asked me to capture their family enjoying Massachusetts and its rich history before their out-of-state move this Summer. Being history aficionados, we chose Old North Bridge in Concord for their family session. Not only did we enjoy the varied scenery this site has to offer, we got to read the fascinating history of the bridge as we explored!
In honor of this big boy’s 4th birthday (today!), here are some of my favorites from their sunrise June session. And for those lucky ones still balking at the time– take heart. The morning golden hour is around 8:00AM in the Fall! If that still makes you balk, I’m going to assume you have teenagers for my own personal sanity ;).

"To say that I love each one would be cliche and a total understatement, but seriously... She nailed it. Being a photographer myself, I am very picky and searched dozens of photographers before coming back to lyndsay and booking her and I am so glad I did. I can't even remember the last time I hired a photographer and was this in love with the images and unable to pick just a few favorites. Thank you, lyndsay, for making the photo session easy (with 3 kids), fun and providing this mama memories for a lifetime.”
"Our images are so special and really captured our joy and the sweet personality of our little girl. Lyndsay did a great job going beyond the typical posed shots and making our photos feel authentic. We will treasure them forever."
