I’ve mentioned in the past that I love home design. If I had to categorize my style, I would say that I love a nice healthy mix of old and new. There’s just something about antique paired with modern that has my heart. This newborn session had me swooning. A mix of old and new doesn’t get any better than a 5 day old baby girl in an antique home! This baby girl’s Mama wore one of my favorite maternity dresses I’ve come across to their maternity session so it was unsurprising to walk into their house and find that I was obsessed with her home style too.

Not to be overshadowed by my love for antique homes, Baby Lily was just the most adorable nugget I’ve ever seen. Typically newborn sessions happen between 7-14 days post-birth but things worked out so that I was able to meet this baby girl at 5 days old. Her alertness and wide eyes as she looked all around during her session was surprising for a wee brand new baby! She was so responsive to her Mom and Dad’s voices, it was incredibly sweet to watch. We began her session in her vintage inspired nursery and then continued on to the master bedroom and the family room. These three locations are where I conduct 90% of my newborn sessions as they provide a great backdrop for family photographs. In this house, we also took advantage of the beautiful light in the hallway and the antique stairs as we moved around. At the end of the session, Dad asked if we could go out the garden and grab a few shots. I’m pretty sure I said HECK YA WE CAN! Vegetable gardening and farm life is another passion of mine and barefoot families in gardens are always a yes from me!
