While I frequently travel all around the Greater Boston area for family photographs, there is something to be said for staying in one’s hometown. Whenever a Framingham family contacts me, I do a little happy dance. I know our city well and we have some fabulous locations for a family session. During the inquiry process, we figured out that these clients and I bought our homes in Framingham at the same time. Not only that, they had toured my actual home! Such a funny coincidence.

We settled on the lovely Callahan State Park , a huge park in town with plenty of fields, trails, and gorgeous views. Callahan is one of my favorite spots because of its varied terrain and sunset. Raised trails provide sweeping vistas, open fields are perfect for snuggling up on a blanket, and tall trees are great for light filtering. Personally, my own family loves to spend time hiking, biking, and sledding here. That is, when I am not photographing other people’s families! 😉

This beautiful family of three and their pup admitted that they hadn’t been in front of a camera since their wedding day. It’s hard to believe since they were incredibly natural! After all, it’s hard not to be when you’re playing in a beautiful park with your toddler and dog. We started out doing a lot of running, toddler air tossing, swinging, and puppy petting. The sunset was glorious, the puppy excited, and the toddler happy. We ended our evening with a client request– a family silhouette! I hadn’t attempted one professionally before but love the result. Because Callahan has tall hills that open to giant open sky, it’s the perfect location for one. Scroll down to the last image to see this Framingham family in silhouette!
