Even though I am a Boston based newborn photographer, my clients take me all over Massachusetts. As a mom of three under 6, I actually enjoy longer car rides and listening to uninterrupted podcasts. Sometimes I even drive in complete silence…can anyone relate? This particular day, I headed west to visit a newborn who was a little over a week old.
As a lifestyle newborn photographer, all my sessions take place in my client’s homes. While my primary goal is to photograph your new baby, my secondary goal is to photograph your baby in their home. Meaning that I want to incorporate what makes your home unique! This is the place that you brought your baby home to, the place where they will get their first tooth, say their first words, take their first steps. Your home is a crucial aspect of your childrens’ childhoods. It doesn’t matter if your space is big or small, light or dark. It will be their safe space.
Lucky for me, these particular clients had a beautiful light-filled home. My own home tends to be dark and not have the greatest light so I get really excited when I go into a home that has ideal light-facing windows. On top of beautiful light, this family was gorgeous and so incredibly warm and welcoming. An amazing design aesthetic didn’t hurt either!
We began our baby boy newborn session in little brother’s nursery while big brother got his wiggles out. Some beautiful portraits of Mama nursing transitioned into the classic “crib shot” which is sometimes the first time new baby is actually laying in their crib!
After we finished up the nursery photographs, we headed down the hall to my favorite place to photograph families indoors: the master bed. The bed in the master bedroom is one of my favorite spots because it maximizes the ability to snuggle with the whole family. It’s an innately comfortable place for everyone and usually encourages toddlers to get in the frame. If you have good light in your bedroom, I am probably going to spend a lot of time here. We will do family portraits as well as pictures of your new baby alone. We will take photographs of mom alone with baby and dad alone with baby. If your big sibling is into it, this is also a great safe spot for sibling photos.
Once I have the list of essential shots done, we move on to other spaces of your home like your living room and any spots that have unique architecture! I loved the staircase and all the beautiful wooden floors and paneled doors in this particular home. Big brother also couldn’t wait to show me his slide! It’s not always, and is actually quite rare, that a house has this much beautiful light in every room.
D family, you made my job easy and I so loved meeting you all!

"To say that I love each one would be cliche and a total understatement, but seriously... She nailed it. Being a photographer myself, I am very picky and searched dozens of photographers before coming back to lyndsay and booking her and I am so glad I did. I can't even remember the last time I hired a photographer and was this in love with the images and unable to pick just a few favorites. Thank you, lyndsay, for making the photo session easy (with 3 kids), fun and providing this mama memories for a lifetime.”
"Our images are so special and really captured our joy and the sweet personality of our little girl. Lyndsay did a great job going beyond the typical posed shots and making our photos feel authentic. We will treasure them forever."
