Mamas, let’s face it, the last thing on your mind after birthing your baby is getting in front of the camera. After birthing three babies myself, I completely understand. As a photographer though, I understand the value in this short but oh-so-important time in your lives. Today, I want to tell you about 5 reasons why you should consider booking a Fresh 48 session or birth space session.
While your newborn is still considered a “newborn” for several months after birth, it’s never going to be quite as exciting as those first couple days. This little person that you’ve been dreaming of for nine (or more!) months is finally earth side and this is the time to soak it all in while you don’t have to worry about anything else. Do you have a toddler or big kid too? They will never been quite as fascinated with your new baby as during this time.
Yes, you’re a mom and you’re likely worrying about everything under the sun but compared to “regular life” your to-do list is pretty minimal right after birth. It looks a little like: feed baby, soothe baby, change baby, rest. Repeat. There’s no laundry or cooking. There’s no house to tidy. Someone else is caring for your big kid. Why not soak in all these moments by getting your newborn photography taken care of before you have all those extra burdens?
Babies start plumping up faster than you think. Those itty bitty purple and wrinkly feet will all the sudden get chubby and the purple will subside. The flaky skin will smooth out and the cord stump will give way to a fresh new belly button. Before all this change happens, let’s document those features so you will always remember that new-ness.
While I adore newborn lifestyle sessions in clients’ homes, the outfit coordination can be a stressful situation for new moms. At a fresh 48 session, comfort is king. Your new baby is mostly in a simple onesie, solely their diaper, or even the hospital white shirt. Moms are either in pajamas or leggings and tank tops. A simple t-shirt and jeans look best on dad. Basically, whatever you would lounge around in on a Saturday morning is exactly right for a birth space photo session.
I know, I know, this is kind of a cop out for reason number five. However, it’s simply the truth. I have never heard a mom say “boy I wish we saved that money and spent it elsewhere”. Instead, I hear so many say they wish they had known how important these images would be to them when they had their first baby.

"To say that I love each one would be cliche and a total understatement, but seriously... She nailed it. Being a photographer myself, I am very picky and searched dozens of photographers before coming back to lyndsay and booking her and I am so glad I did. I can't even remember the last time I hired a photographer and was this in love with the images and unable to pick just a few favorites. Thank you, lyndsay, for making the photo session easy (with 3 kids), fun and providing this mama memories for a lifetime.”
"Our images are so special and really captured our joy and the sweet personality of our little girl. Lyndsay did a great job going beyond the typical posed shots and making our photos feel authentic. We will treasure them forever."
