Reason #1: You Don’t Have to Worry About the Weather!

Watching the weather isn’t only stressful for your photographer– it can be stressful for families too! Rearranging work and social schedules to clear plans on the day of your family photo session is complicated. When you get rained out and have to scramble to do it all over again for a different day…it can feel frustrating. While there is nothing clients or photographers can do about the weather: why not remove the factor altogether? In-home family sessions happen rain or shine so you only have to do the schedule juggle ONCE!

Reason #2: No Shoes!

This might seem a bit silly, but as a mom of three, I can assure you it’s a REAL benefit! There’s nothing like coordinating a perfect family outfit and then realizing that your kids only fit into beat-up looking sneakers. Buying new photo-worthy shoes can be a hassle…and expensive! But nothing kills a good photo vibe like neon dirty sneakers so it has to happen!

…..Not at home! Bare feet look best so ditch all the worry about the last minute trip to Target for footwear and let those toes free!

Reason #3: In-Home Family Sessions are Unique to YOU and You Alone.

If you’re continually looking for a unique holiday card option, you may have skipped over the obvious! Your own home is the most unique it gets. Even if you live in a community where all the houses are the same layout…each one looks different inside. Your family puts the “home” into your house and that deserves documenting. After all, it’s where you spend most of your time as a family!

04: The FOURTH reason to love an at-home session: your kids are most comfortable!

While *most* older kids love getting outside and exploring a brand-new place, toddlers tend to crave comfort. New spaces can make them feel a little shy, nervous, and sometimes scared. A shy, nervous, or scared toddler doesn’t usually make for great photos. While the majority of them warm up after 10-15 minutes, imagine what we could accomplish if they were comfortable from the start!

Aaanddddd Last But Not Least: #5 is The Zero Commute Factor!

If you’re a primary parent, here’s a livestream of what probably goes through your head anytime you’re trying to herd small children from Point A to Point B:

Should I dress them before or after? They might spill a snack on their clothes. But we definitely need snacks because they’re always hungry on road trips. Will little Johnny fall asleep so late in the day? Probably. But he always wakes up grumpy from naps. I am going to have to figure out how to keep him awake. Maybe that’s impossible. Maybe we should leave even earlier and give him time to wake up first. What time should we actually leave? I need enough time to dress everyone once we get there….and what if there is traffic? It’s near rush hour. We can’t miss sunset.

….and this is probably just one minute of the thought that goes into coordinating a whole family’s arrival time!
