Meet Liza.

Boston artist and small business owner Liza is the creator of Liza Curtis Studio. Aside from being an amazing potter, Liza is pretty much the creative equivalent of a jack-of-all-trades. From large-scale murals, to production pottery, art teacher and Reiki practitioner– she’s does it all! Liza’s pottery is like owning a tiny work of art. Her hand-thrown mugs have beautiful animals painted onto each and I found myself staring into the mesmerizing colors of her ring dishes.

Liza is another “basement potter” like Melissa…I think I need to trademark this phrase. Initially also hesitant to have me photograph her basement studio, I assured her that I could work with any lighting scenario. The truth is, I love seeing people’s workspaces. Seeing where the magic happens from this Boston artist inspires me. Plus, you can’t beat the convenience of walking downstairs into your “office”.

Product Styling.

One of my favorite parts about my small business branding sessions is chatting with each Boston artist about how they want their work to be displayed. Liza and I had a great time talking about styling and lighting her pottery and the color/textures she likes best as backgrounds. Finding the best light in each person’s workspace is a fun challenge for me. Liza’s dining room was the winner for us. Once I photographed a good amount of her best-selling product, we headed outside for a little fun with steam in the chilly air.

My biggest challenge now is deciding which mug I want to order from Liza! I’m torn between the wolf and the elephant. Which is your favorite?
