Sisters, Tutus, and Sunset Photography Session | Massachusetts Family Photographer
The P Family was new to me this year. When Mama first contacted me, I could tell we were a good fit. She described what she was envisioning, a sunset session that began at their home and continued to a field walking distance from their house. We chatted about outfits and she mentioned that the three sisters would be wearing tutus, which was basically the cutest EVER.
When I pulled up to their house, big sister ran out and greeted me right away. She led me to the door and introduced me to her family, chatting away. While Mom and Dad finished up, the girls gave me a grand tour of their home. This sweet family made me feel instantly welcome and at ease, the kind of family you can’t help but want to be besties with right away.
Their yard was the perfect spot to begin our session! They live on one of those classic Massachusetts winding country roads that are idyllic in the Autumn months. The sisters had special dresses on for this portion of our photoshoot which didn’t stop them from running, jumping, climbing, and swinging. A few family portraits, some individual portraits of the girls on their awesome rock wall, and we were on to checking out their giant swing in their yard. Mama then ushered the girls inside to change (one of the benefits of a home session!) and we were off chasing the sunset to the field down the road.
I’ve mentioned my love for fields in the past and this session will definitely showcase that! Fields provide open uncluttered spaces that are ideal for sunset family sessions. The girls were relaxed and warmed up by then so we jumped right in to pictures in this spot. The last rays were setting as the girls climbed fences and twirled their tutus in the golden light. The end of our session was actually during ‘blue hour’, post-sunset, which gives a gorgeous glow that is totally different than golden hour! We ended our session with some gymnastic moves that Mama fondly remembered her father doing with her when she was a child and a few nursing pictures with baby girl.
