What is ‘glamping’ anyways?

A few weeks ago, someone told me about Huttopia, a company that offers a “glamping” experience for those who want to camp but maybe in a not-so-rustic way. My kids have been begging to go camping for a couple years and this sounded like the perfect opportunity to dip our toes in.

The glamping experience offers the awesome things about camping- private sites, campfires, wilderness immersion while taking away the difficult parts. Each canvas tent is stocked with a mini-kitchen, sink, two burner propane stove, and dishes. Our tent had a small bathroom with hot shower– game changer with little kids. Two partitioned bedrooms offered privacy and dark sleeping quarters.

The Huttopia staff was friendly and welcoming. The property was clean and offered a lake, playground, and a food truck with pizza.

What Else Did You Do in New Hampshire?

Aside from the amenities at the campground itself, it’s situated in the White Mountains with endless outdoor fun. We spent one day hiking the famed Diana’s Baths. It was just the right length for little kids and the older boys had a blast climbing up the waterfalls and adding to the cairns.

Camping in September offered cooler more manageable temperatures and some gorgeous leaf-peeping which my photographer soul immensely enjoyed. While the mountain streams were crisp and cool, my kids didn’t seem to mind playing in them at all.

Would I go glamping again?

Absolutely! Overall we loved the whole concept and experience. I’m not going to sugar-coat it though, vacationing with three kids 6 and under is hard work. My 22 month old made lots of things extremely challenging but that has nothing to do with glamping specifically! Huttopia made camping with kids doable and we can’t wait to go back next year.
